Encourages the use of existing structures to reduce health disparities for transgender.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a letter last week written by their Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program. The HRSA highlighted ways that the transgender community has been left out of efforts to address AIDS, and encouraged their service providers to leverage gender-affirming practices to help people get the treatment they need.
“It is critical that service providers know that they can provide gender-affirming health care and social services as part of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program,” said HRSA Administrator Carole Johnson. “This guidance supports our efforts to address health disparities and reduce barriers to life-saving HIV care, medication, and support services for transgender people with HIV so they can lead long healthy lives.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For HRSA Administration Johnson to be led by God as she oversees her agency.
- For Secretary Becerra to seek the Lord’s guidance as he heads the health department.
- For HHS officials as they work to ensure everyone has appropriate access to necessary treatments.
